![]() ![]() D3 was smoothed out over the years, but always had a “fluffy” feel to it compared to other more hardcore ARPGs like Path of Exile. ![]() Sadly, D3 failed to live up to expectations and had numerous issues at launch tied to connectivity and the abysmal auction house for real money system. It had a lot to live up to given it was the sequel to Diablo 2, one of the best games ever made. On May 15, 2012, Blizzard released Diablo 3. Only tapping into and enhancing that potential, which doesn’t appear to be happening anytime soon. But potential isn’t enough to keep a game alive. It’s visually beautiful, the combat mechanics are fluid and smooth, and there is so much potential. It’s sad all of this happened because the core of D4 is solid. But I never touched any of the store items (which are absurdly overpriced) and there’s nothing on the horizon to bring me back anytime soon. I had more than 6 weeks of fun gameplay, which is more than worth the purchase price, so that’s a positive factor. I did thoroughly enjoy my time playing D4, but because the devs failed to address key issues and provide any evidence they plan on properly addressing core problems and growing the gamer within a timely manner, I find myself disconnected from the game with no incentive to return to it in its current state. Streamers have left the game and there is no evidence the player base will recover anytime soon. ![]() The player loss is so bad they released the Season 2 trailer and details nearly two months before it launches, trying to entice people to stay with the game and get excited about something that comes in October. Things have gone downhill very quickly for D4. On top of that, Blizzard has released videos of “devs” playing the game that are so bad, they simply look like diversity training programs complete with fake gameplay. ![]() They are simply not fixing and enhancing the game quickly enough, and there is evidence D4 has parts of its design outsourced. Since then, D4 suffered a massive decline in players due to the complete incompetence by and disconnection from the team at Blizzard. While the core launch of the game held amazing promise, the release of Season 1 was underwhelming. A lot has happened since I wrote this initial review, which was based on the pre-Season 1 version of Diablo 4. ![]()
